Q: How is Camp Pursuit responding to Covid-19?

Following local and federal guidelines, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to move all in-person Camp Pursuits for the month of June to the online Camp Pursuit | World Edition.  We will continue to monitor July and August Camps.

Q: What online platform is being used (and is it safe)?

After seeing countless news stories about children's safety in online classes, we have decide that there will be no live video or chat interaction between children and adults. We believe this will improve the overall quality of the camp. Teachers will be able to pre-record content to share each day without limitations in connectivity, or doorbells ringing and dogs barking. 

For the individual camper, that means he so she can access the material at a time that is most convenient for each family. If the student wishes to remain anonymous, he or she does not have to appear on camera. Daily feedback and guidance will still be delivered to each camper, but at a time and through a medium that is best for the individual camper.

Over the past few weeks, we have had a chance to test and pilot many online LMSs (Learning Management Systems), and have decided on Google Classroom. While it is not the flashiest system, it provides the safest environment that is easily managed and integrated--allowing teachers to provide feedback to a students work directly. 

Q: What materials will I need?

Campers will need an internet-enabled device capable of accessing Google Classroom, streaming videos, and opening websites. We recommend and use Chromebooks in all of our student programs. For many of our tech courses, parents will be asked to create a free account for their camper (for example MIT Scratch).

Every time a course activity involves a hands-on challenge, the teacher provides alternative solutions for materials. Suggested supplies include printer paper, construction paper, colored pencils, scissors, glue, tape, and a writing utensil.

Our hope is that no additional purchases are necessary; HOWEVER, you may want to start cleaning and saving cardboard and cool recyclables.

Camp Pursuit is built by educators who genuinely love to learn!  We use our proprietary curriculum model to create one-of-a-kind, STEAM courses that blend storytelling with project-based, interdisciplinary study. 

All of our courses include built-in options for choice and accelerated materials, and every class is taught by a passionate Inspirator  who has been trained to work with a wide variety of students in mixed-aged classroom models
